About the event
About the Program:
In our changing climate, there are many aspects of our future that are uncertain. But one thing is clear: we need each other to survive. This summer, The Center for Spirituality and Nature is hosting an online book study and interactive workshop series, “Walking Through Uncertainty Together,” focused on building individual and communal resilience. Rev. Kaeley McEvoy will host the series, using the new book from Christian environmental ethicist, Larry Rasmussen, “The Planet You Inherit: Letters to My Grandchildren When Uncertainty’s a Sure Thing,” as a guide to explore embodied spiritual practices and as an inspiration to create our own environmental love ethic in face of the unknown.
In this new book, Rasmussen pulls from a lifetime of environmental activism and writes twenty-two love letters to his grandchildren who will live on a profoundly different Earth from one we currently inhabit. During the three-week summer book series, we’ll talk through Rasmussen’s letters and work towards writing our own letters to another generation, all the while cultivating sustainable spiritual practices to walk through climate uncertainty.
We are thrilled to have Mr. Rasmussen joining us for our final session on August 6th along with Founding Director of the Center, Beth Norcross.
