About the event
In the natural world, diversity is essential to a well-functioning ecosystem. Each element of a healthy ecosystem contributes to the distribution of nutrients and water and protection from disease and pestilence. On the other hand, a monoculture eventually collapses. What wisdom then can nature offer us in the honoring of diversity within our human species? And as we awaken to the Divine mystery within each element of the natural world, can we too awaken to the Divine mystery within our fellow humans -- each of whom are deserving of our respect and love?
Join us as we welcome Tykee James and Corina Newsome, leaders in the Black Birding movement, who will guide us as we begin the important conversation about the spiritual wisdom that nature has to offer in this significant cultural moment. Tykee is the Government Affairs Coordinator at National Audubon, and Corina is a graduate student studying the nest predation in seaside sparrows. Both have extensive experience in the field and have much to share and offer, and we are appreciative of their presence with us in this transformative time.
